Day 49: Mid-phase Program Review

Thursday, April 4, 2013

Its day 49th of my ICS Volunteering Journey. It's now the start of our Mid-Phase Program Review or MPR! It's our break from the community,a time for ourselves to reflect and review our goals in the program! :)
It's fun fun fun MPR!
MPR is conducted in the middle of the program to allow volunteers to have a break from their work placements and host homes. Its is a time to evaluate how far they have gone in the program especially the goals the have set. It's an opportunity to be refreshed and also discuss what didn't work out and what worked out between the counterpart pairs, host homes, work placements and the the team as a whole.

MPR is one of the crucial and important aspects of the program because personally it serves as a breather for me from the stresses at work.

I'm part of the MPR committee and we distributed the sessions to different host home counterparts to easy plan and create the activities. After 49 days of being in the program, indeed I have improved my sign language skills as well as my understanding of the British, Filipino and Deaf Culture has deepened.

We all finished the sessions today in Southwestern University and tomorrow, we will be going to Bantayan Island and will be staying in there for the next 3 days.

We all need a break. Even superheroes have weaknesses. :)
