Day 39: A Team Break at Kawasan Falls

Monday, March 25, 2013

Beautiful Kawasan Falls
Around 4:30 AM when the bus left Cebu City going to Kawasan falls which is about 3 hours travel. Every Monday has always been a team meeting day since we started working in our volunteer placements. I feel bad today because my counterpart has scheduled interview with the PWDs about the Fully Abled Nation program.

Wonderful Bridge seen on the
path going to Kawasan Falls
Waking up early is a bit exhausting so I decided to fall asleep to hopefully regain my energy for today's Social Activities (SA). SA is one of the most important aspect of the program which aims to strengthen the team and create fun time for everyone to be relieved from any negative stresses.

Awesome view upriver
reconnecting you to nature
We went down the bus near the signage leading to the falls. It's just P10.00 entrance fee and the pathway is shaded by the trees. There were many bridges and the water is used for power generation which supplies Cebu City. The water is very clean and there are many fish swimming on that clear river.

Arriving the water falls, it is not stunning as the water falls I had seen in Iligan City but its uniqueness is very inviting just as the blue deep waters of the basin tries to reflect the sky above it. The surroundings were covered by vines that gives you a calming effect by simply looking into it.

Bamboo rafts that makes you
enjoy more the scenery.
Later, we rode a raft to go nearer the water falls. It was like a very satisfying massage as the waters put pressure on my back. Its very relieving. With the wonderful scenery in front of me, It reminded me of my childhood – when I was playing skipping stones into out pond. This day made me do it once more.

We then had our team meeting and later few of us decided to go home early around 3PM to take an aircon bus. On our way, I bought a keychain for my counterpart hoping it may also ease and remind her of how we all wished she was with us.

Still, at the end of each day, whether at work or having recreation – having a warm bed and having some rest is simple but effective cure for someone who needs a break in life.
