Homeless. We left Betania Retreat House today to go to our host families and live with them for the next 10 weeks of the program. Unfortunately for four of us (Basma, Daniel, Isabelle and Me), James and Eduard (our Progarm Supervisors) are still looking for families to host us.
Sending them Off. We went to Brgy. Talamban to send Adam, Sonny and Philip and also just nearby is Jera, Martha and Jenny's host home. They said its just a ride away going to our work placements.
Fears to Face. One of my co-volunteers was scared at the dog in their host home and even cried. Indeed, there will be lots of adjustments to make when moving to live into a different house. Personally, I am used to living a very simple life because I grow up in rice farm. I am used to live in a farmer's abode.
Mission for the Deaf. We all went to the regular Sunday gathering of the Deaf community in St. Michael's Village. There were many of them who came. My first impression says that they are very happy and friendly people. Having learned the very basic Filipino Sign Language, I can start few conversations with them beginning from introducing my name to asking simple questions like "where you from?".
Soon, we will be working with the Cebu Association of the Deaf. I hope that I will be able to develop more my FSL skills.
