Day 25: Work and Duties

Monday, March 11, 2013

It's the 25th day of my ICS Volunteering Journey. Today we had meeting for our task assignments for the Leadership Training Seminar this weekend for the CAD officers and members.

Our team mate Sofia prepared almost all the topic outlines and,so I volunteered to do the power point presentations so they can prepare and practice for their lecture using Filipino Sign Language. I find that British people are very independent in terms of working. They always take initiatives. They are very professional indeed which is a very admirable character that they have.

I am learning a lot from Sofia beginning from Events Management to Fundraising ideas. I came to be acquainted deeper about trusts and grants. I often hear these words but it never came into my understanding.

We also have decided to ask Raemar, VSO-ICS' volunteer interpreter, to help us with the voicing during the training.  According to Michelle, our Volunteer Placement Supervisor (VPS), the Deaf learns best when the lecturer also uses FSL. They are usually confused when they have to look at the interpreter and the lecturer.

There is a lot of new things to discover everyday. To have an open mind about things is very important attitude for personal growth.
